  • On December 12, 2013, EMBARQ Brazil hosted “On the Way to an Urban Mobility Plan,” in São José dos Campos, the seventh largest city in the state of São Paulo, boasting a population of 674,000 inhabitants. The event aimed to build the capacity of the city’s technical team tasked with preparing a sustainable urban mobility plan.

  • Turkish Public Health Association awards EMBARQ Turkey for improving environment and public health

    EMBARQ Turkey was awarded the “Public Transportation and Public Health Award” in the Environment category from the Turkish Public Health Association. The award recognizes EMBARQ Turkey for its non-motorized transport project BikeLab Istanbul.

  • Last month, EMBARQ and the Schipper Family announced a call for applications for the 2014 Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship for Sustainable Transport and Energy Efficiency. In order to accommodate sustained interested in the Scholarship, the committee has elected to extend the deadline for expressions of interest to Friday, January 3, 2014.

Boasting a lineup of 17 expert speakers from five different continents, the Symposium brought together urban planners, engineers, government officials, and development professionals to address how sustainable urban development can contribute to healthy, active, and livable cities.

  • EMBARQ Mexico collaborates with Mexico City’s government to develop path towards a sustainable, healthy, and livable city

    In an effort to better regulate mobility in Mexico City, the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District recently proposed draft legislation on transportation in the city. During the drafting process, the Secretary of Road Transport and the Government of the Federal District worked together to identify priorities of citizens, government institutions, civil society, and transport experts throughout the city in relation to mobility.

  • EMBARQ China weighs in on the long-term viability of Beijing’s new measure

    Beijing has announced an effort to further constrict its vehicle quota control regulation in the hopes of curbing air pollution and traffic congestion in China’s capital city. Echoing the city’s recent “Clean Air Action Plan (2013-2017),” an amendment to the car ownership restriction regulation was issued on November 28 that will cut the annual vehicle increases from 240,000 to 150,000 beginning in 2014.
